Brief:

Create new packaging design.

Intent:

Make packaging more retail friendly and encourage user to head to the website for more information.

Reviewing OWC’s past box designs, plus a few competitor boxes it was decided to go with a lighter box overall. In color and content. Simplicity.


Every new box design got new imagery. Most box front product shots were left facing heroes. An exception was made for smaller products like the Envoy and Atlas family lines.


The lifestyles were also taken especially for the back of the boxes to account for the icons and copy.


For the brown boxes, the back of the box design was omitted but everything else stayed the same. We were typically given a CAD file for the product vector art.

The roll out on the new design was gradual. Swapping over when boxes were running low and ready for a reprint. Working with the product marketer and copy writer to determine the appropriate updates. As well as, our photographer for updated imagery.
